About me:

Brought up in rural North Devon and from as early as four years of age I have always had a passion for wildlife and in particular ornithology. From some early books on British birds my interest was really sparked when my Godfather gave me his second hand Collins Field Guide to European Birds when I was six years old. It’s blue hardback cover may have been falling apart but I could not take my eyes off the coloured plates of those exotic species! This intense interest has remained with me all my life and certainly not diminished over time. I have an interest in all things avian worldwide but my region (The Western Palearctic) does particularly hold my attention. My attempts at photography started with digiscoping and over the last few years has progressed to some serious camera equipment. My working life has been as a Veterinary Surgeon. I qualified from Liverpool University in 1984 and retired from a busy equine practice in the Cotswolds, where I was a surgeon in 2017. I live in the Cotswolds with my wife and we have two daughters both now independent and working away from home.

Purpose of website:

This website is going to become established over the next few months as  I work my way through thousands of images so do please log in from time to time. Once I am up to date there will of course be on going additions as I obtain more images. All species on this website have occurred within the Western Palearctic and the vast majority of my images have been obtained within this region. For myself this website will be a good way to keep an organised catalogue of my better images and over time I would like to think it will become a useful source of reference. Any desired images will be able to be purchased as digital downloads.
